Season Start

It’s been too long. Time to get ready for the next adventure! Whether you’re getting ready to resume the bike commute, enjoy the sun with friends, or take your next big adventure; it’s important to take a few minutes to appreciate your partner in crime and make sure you’re both ready for the season!

Bike checks:

  • Check tire tread and pressure
  • Oil change is always a good idea
  • Hopefully you were on a trickle charger through the winter, but if not, get that battery ship shape
  • Check brake pad thickness.
  • Check that the brakes & clutch engage normally
  • Confirm all lights all work
  • Fill your gas tank with the good stuff.
  • Give the bike a once over. Look for broken zip ties, split tubing, cracked leather, loose nuts/bolts, etc.
  • Look through your to role. Tools need cleaning out missing? First aid kit need a restock? Any junk you can get rid of?
  • Reintroduce yourself, give her a little pat, you’re going to be BFFs again.
  • If anything is not right or is close to wear out, get a new set on order or make an appointment with your favorite mechanic!

Personal checks:

  • Check your gear. Make sure snaps and zippers all work
  • Check your helmet. If it is getting old, consider ordering a new one for a safe fresh start
  • How’s the tread on your boots?
  • Last but certainly not least, ask yourself what do you want to accomplish this season? Longer rides? Camping? More solo time? More group rides? Work on your cornering? Learn a new skill? See more sunsets?
    • Make a plan to accomplish this, and tell someone else!

Let’s get ready to enjoy the new season and stay rubber side down!
